Module 1: Organisation, management and communications

Module 1 focuses on increasing the visibility and accessibility of the SWERVE infrastructure. Additionally, it ensures that SWERVE is managed efficiently and in accordance with the requirements of the Swedish Research Council and partner organisations.

Goal

The goal of Module 1 is to ensure that activities are carried out in a coordinated manner and that all opportunities and activities are communicated to the Swedish marine research community. It encompasses the central support functions for the project, such as reporting, coordination of modules, budget monitoring, and the implementation of communication activities for the project. This module is crucial for an efficient and purposeful delivery of a national research vessel infrastructure that supports Swedish marine research and ensures that the opportunities and access provided by the modules are visible and available to all potential users. GU is the leading organisation for Module 1.

Communication

A central issue that SWERVE addresses is the lack of integrated and easily accessible information about vessel operations and opportunities. The availability, schedules, and activities of vessels are typically communicated to a limited group, often within a single organisation. In many cases, researchers struggle to access information about vessels outside their own organisations, and similarly, vessel operators have no clear communication method to reach a broader national audience. Additionally, researchers from organisations that do not own/operate a research vessel face significant challenges in accessing vessel time, equipment, and technical expertise. Module 1 will ensure a clear and openly accessible pathway for information flow and two-way communication between researchers, technicians, and vessel operators at the national level.
