Svea
Owned by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and operated by the Swedish Maritime Administration, R/V Svea has the classifications Special Purpose Ship, Silent ship ICES 209, Sea Area A, Ice-class 1B, and equipped with dynamic positioning. It supports a wide range of multidisciplinary scientific research, including bottom and pelagic trawl fishery. RV Svea has an endurance of approximately 16 days at sea.
You can apply for SWERVE voyages on Svea for June (weeks 24,25 and 27) and in October – November (weeks 43-45).
Voyages undertaking research in all marine disciplines are possible on Svea and we will accept applications for single research-groups but we encourages shared voyages and collaboration between groups as Svea is manned and operatinable day and night.You may also ask to join a regular survey, and we will try our best to host you depending on space, available time, resources and willingness by the expedition owner i.e., so called piggybacking.
SWERVE voyages on Svea is possible in the North Atlantic and polar regions in summer time
